The first generation of Acura’s compact sedan dubbed the ILX hit the showrooms in 2013. It was the first-ever model wearing Acura brand propelled by a hybrid powertrain. In 2015, the luxury carmaker revamped the vehicle and dropped of the hybrid combo, leaving only two engine options for its customers, the Civic-sourced 2.4-liter and 2.0-liter units. Since the 2015 model year brought nothing but the changes under the hood, the 2017 model year will bring much more comprehensive revamp for the vehicle. The ILX will be turned into even more luxurious and sportier model it was before. Most of you will be disappointed to hear that the 2017 Acura ILX won’t bring more powerful engines, but the carmaker will make up for that by offering more refined interior and exterior.
Exterior of 2017 Acura ILX
The 2017 ILX will retain its recognizable shape, but it will gain a completely redesigned front and rear ends. Its dimensions won’t be changed either. The changes on the front fascia of the car are extensive and include redesigned grille, restyled five-point headlamps with LED bulbs and redesigned turn signals. The taillights seem to be a bit sharper now. The lower apron gets new housings too. The vehicle rides on 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels. Another interesting thing for the 2017 model year is the A-SPEC package with sportier fog lights, 18-inch wheels, a trunk-lid spoiler and some other unique features, but unfortunately, the entry trim level is devoid of the bundle.
2017 Acura ILX Interior
The changes inside of the cabin are limited to the contrast stitching for certain areas and silver trim for passenger’s side of the dashboard. If you seek a more luxurious cabin, the A-SPECK package should be your choice because it adds Premium Black interior with high-end materials. It includes seats with suede inserts, gray stitching, aluminum pedals, etc. The carmaker definitely upped the ante with host of luxury and convenience features such as Home-link remote, blind spot monitoring, an upper 8-inch display screen and lower 7-inch touch-sensitive screen, cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and more. The carmaker claims that the cabin of the refreshed ILX will be quieter due to some innovative technology and thicker door glass.
Acura ILX 2017 Engine
Even though the 2017 model year might not bring the mind-boggling oomph of horsepower, the carmaker was quick to brag that the engine powering the 2017 ILX will make 210 horses and 180 pound feet of torque, which is 51 ponies 40 pound-feet of torque more compared to the previous generation. Under the ILX’s hood will be a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine. New for the 2017 model year is an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. It is the very first dual-clutch transmission with torque converter. Allegedly, the transmission will help the four-pot to improve consumption ratings, but deeper details haven’t been unveiled yet.
Release date and price of 2017 ILX Acura
