The Honda makes the Accord model for both European and Japanese markets. The same model is sold on different markets, but under a slightly different name. Honda Accord Euro is sold in Australia and New Zeland, while in the US, Canada and Mexico the same model is known as the Acura TSX. Starting from the late 2009, the famous Honda’s model was introduced to the Chinese market as the Honda Spirior. It is assembled in Dongfeng Honda Factory in China and in Sayama, Japan, and it is classified as the mid sized sedan. It features both 4 door sedan body style, as well as the 5 door wagon option. The current model made its way to the Chinese public in 2008 and, today, we are looking at the new, redesigned 2016 Honda Spirior.
2016 Honda Spirior Exterior
The front of the new 2016 Honda Spirior is a bit different than the new Accord intended for the European market. Here, the car features a large grille stretching to the very bottom of the car, with the headlights being part of the whole grille assembly. The headlights themselves feature simple, sharp looking design, with beautiful LED daytime lamps. The fog lights are positioned at the bottom of the front bumper, as part of the air intake openings. At the back, the car looks equally stunning. The rear bumper bursts with aggressive style, especially with the addition of chromium plated exhaust pipes, featuring trapezoidal shape. The taillights are shaped like the front of the ship and are connected to each other via chromium stripe stretching across the trunk lid.
Interior of 2016 Spirior
As far as the interior is cncerned, the new 2016 Honda Spirior wll feature similar design style as the regular Accord, with the difference of materials being used, as the new Spirior wll feature more expensive and sophisticated ones. Dual LCD screen, advanced infotainment system and premium audio system are going to be present, as well.
Honda Spirior 2016 Engine
Under the hood of the new 2016 Honda Spirior beats the heart in the form of a direct injected iVTEC 2.4 liter inline 4 cylinder engine unit, capable of outputting 185 horsepower and a total torque output of 181 lb ft. Although not yet confirmed, the new engine will be paired with an 8 speed DCT transmission system, but the complete information regarding that particular gearbox is still not available. The second engine option may include a more powerful unit, a 3.5 liter V6, capable of delivering 278 horsepower and 252 lb ft of maximum torque output. It will feature a Variable Cylinder Management system (CVT), a new technology that enables the engine to modulate how many cylinders are in use, to improve the fuel consumption. The transmission system coupled with the V6 will be a 6 speed automatic.
Honda Spirior 2016 Pricing
As far as the prices are concerned, the new 2016 Honda Spirior will cost somewhere around $25,000 for the base model. The price is not that high, given the specs, but given the competition in the form of the Audi A4, VW Passat, Mazda 6, Ford Mondeo, Honda may face some problems, because some of the competitors are cheaper and deliver more.
